The Future of Hotels is Green

The average hotel stay can be a huge drain on the environment; from wasteful long showers and blasting air conditioning to the unnecessary luxury of a daily linen service.

The bill left upon check out is a hefty one. Hotels contribute 60 million tons of CO2 emissions annually due to uninformed guests and wasteful policies.

Through a few simple steps, hotel guests can greatly minimize the environmental burden of an overnight stay.

The hotel industry has started to clean up its act through eco-friendly policies, but what would happen if all hotels in America implemented similar measures to reduce their carbon footprint?

Join our “Do Not Disturb” campaign to take accountability for your environmental impact during your next hotel stay by opting out of housekeeping.

Leaving the “Do Not Disturb” sign on your hotel door will help save over 6,000 gallons of water per month in the average 150-room hotel and reduce your carbon footprint.

Follow these simple steps:

1. From April 12th to May 9th hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign on your hotel room door.

2. Take a picture of your action and upload it to one or more of the campaign’s social media channels:
