Three major hotel industry associations, including the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA),
Hotel Technology Next Generation (HTNG), and Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) today issued the following joint statement to hotels regarding organized cyber crime attacks on credit card data. It identifies actions that hotels -- and not their system vendors -- need to take immediately in order to minimize their vulnerabilities and to avoid the potential for hundreds of thousands of dollars in costs and fines that typically result when just a single hotel system is breached

News for the Hospitality Executive In 2013, Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality will celebrate its 10th birthday as a hospitality management company managing upscale hotels, resorts and lodges in Central America, all with a strong focus on sustainability. It has been 10 very fulfilling years, filled with challenges and drawbacks. When we started, we had one client and now our portfolio boasts nine projects in Costa Rica and Nicaragua (with several new ones on the drawing board). So business is good, but often at a high cost and wearing our owners and managers at a stronger pace than normal.

Revenue Management Expert Neil Salerno 's impression was that, in recent years, many hoteliers have drifted away from the basics, in favor of new technology and the many unrealistic promises about the use of non-travel related social media. He opined that this type of social media has not yet made any impact for individual hotels.
