Summary: Kathleen Hogan has a background in management, banking and finance. With years of professional experience in business and an MBA in Human Resources Management, she has expanded her scope to include the hospitality industry over the last 20 years.
Kathleen is co-founder and Chief Executive of HospitalityEducators.com, a consortium of successful corporate and academic professionals that delivers focused training and counsel in solving specific challenges facing hospitality. The site has readers and members from more than 50 countries and has become the number one independent website for hotel owners and managers, with more than 2000 resources. She has authored a number of online articles and columns and is working with others on hospitality eBooks.
Kathleen is co-authoring HOSPITALITY SALES IN THE DIGITAL AGE with John Hogan and Howard Feiertag of Virginia Tech. (2017 publication date)
As the Business Office Manager for a regional contractor, she helped successfully launch an entrepreneurial business with the creation and implementation of the initial finance system, marketing and advertisement. She was later part of a team that solved the financial systems problem that had delayed the year-end closing for a well-established, architectural and engineering firm, including operating parallel computer programs for different aspects of the business.
Kathleen’s banking experience ranges from small-town savings to prime mortgage lending institutions. She remains proud of her affiliation with Machias Savings Bank of Maine where she was professionally groomed. While there, she worked both back and front of the house from loan servicing and file maintenance to front-line customer service. She later worked in residential mortgages for Fleet Mortgage, handling a volume of accounts with varied loan program types and sizes. She has experience in loan origination, processing, and desktop-underwriting.
